About the event
Voysey House
Designed by C.F.A. Voysey and built 1902-4 as an extension to the Sanderson wallpaper factory. The company moved out after a fire gutted the main factory building in 1928 but returned in June 2024, on the completion of a major project to restore the building. It is now the headquarters of Sanderson Design Group and home to the group’s heritage brands (Sanderson, Morris & Co. and Zoffany), as well as the archive.
Arthur Sanderson & Sons
The company was originally established by Arthur Sanderson as a wallpaper importer in 1860. Subsequently they expanded into manufacturing wallpapers (from 1879) and then textiles (from 1919). Dr Emma Hardy, Assistant Archivist, will outline the company’s history, from 1860 to today, showing examples of wallpapers and other supporting material (photographs, advertisements) from the collection.
