Oxburgh Hall, Norfolk

WHS Members and friends special visit 13th June 2014

On a sunny Friday in June, WHS members and friends were given the unique opportunity to visit this Grade 1 listed 15th-century moated manor house when the doors were closed to the public.

A private tour of the Hall, which has some remarkable wallcoverings, was followed by a chance to see 'Peeling back the Layers', the first in a series of displays showcasing some of the Hall’s interesting collection of wallpapers.

Wendy Andrews, who has been researching Oxburgh’s wallcoverings, was on hand to discuss their origins along with wallpaper experts Phillippa Mapes, Chris Jordan and Treve Rosoman who gave talks in the Saloon after lunch.
